If we were having coffee this week, I’d tell you that we are all tired at our house today. This was the kids’ first week back at school and while they were very happy to be back with their teachers and friends, it can take a while to get back in the routine after three weeks off. N is going four days a week this year for the first time, and by the time her week was done, she was just one big crabball. She was crying and throwing fits over the tiniest things this morning — it will be good to have a quiet weekend to rest up.
But if we were having coffee, I would tell you that they still had a great first week! N took to her preschool class and teacher like a fish to water. I was a little worried since she loved Ms. Megan soooo much last year, but her current teacher, Mrs. Jordan, made a lot of appearances in her classroom last year and really got to know all the kids. That made for a very easy transition for everyone. J is the veteran pre-Ker this year and one of the oldest in the school. No big deal there, and he was very happy to be back in his pre-K room. He hadn’t been up there all summer. Even Baby J had a good first week, though his was probably the hardest. Three weeks is a long time when you’re 11 months old, and more than enough time to forget about the whole “school” routine. It will take a couple of weeks to get him adjusted, but he’s such an easygoing little guy that I know he’ll be fine.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that Baby J is now officially 100% weaned! Yay for me!! I had been nursing him still in the morning and before bed, but earlier this week, I went to nurse him at bedtime and he was totally uninterested. I put him to bed sans-nursing, and he just flopped over on his belly and went to sleep no problem. I nursed him for the last time the following morning. He didn’t really need it or want it anymore, and I had so little milk that it was time to be done. We made it almost all the way to that magic 1 year mark, and plenty long enough to just switch him straight to whole milk.
If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that Albert and I have started the long and tedious process of car shopping. We’ve managed to operate with one car and sharing with Obaachan for the last year, and the gig is now up. With all 3 kids in school two days a week, we need that second car now 😦 Car shopping, especially used car shopping like we’re doing, is a royal pain in the REAR with 3 kids to juggle! I need to set up some more appointments today, but have to work myself into the mental state to do it.
Finally, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m in the process of an office move at work. I finally get to move into a partner-sized office, and was lucky enough to combine that with an office that has a view of the Country Club Plaza to boot. I’ve decided that I really should do a complete office move every couple of years because it’s pretty much the only time I ever clean all the crap out of my office! I had files in here from cases that settled years ago! And I’m terrible about having piles of papers all over my desk, so I can actually see and use the top of my desk for the first time is ages. It’s nice.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
