Coffee Date Friday {#30}

Happy Friday everyone! I swear, Wednesday felt like Friday to me this week, which made me really sad when I realized it was only Wednesday. But it’s here now at least.

Come join me for a coffee date!

If we were having coffee this week, I would tell you that we have officially survived week 2 of J and N’s summer break from preschool. Only 1 week to go! I’m sure summer break is a wonderful, glorious thing for older kids, but for a very active 3-year-old and 5-year-old, 3 weeks at home without the daily opportunities to play with their friends and teachers, do new activities, etc., can be pretty brutal. Particularly when mom and dad don’t get a 3-week break. By the middle of the first week, they were bouncing off the walls with boredom, and it hasn’t gotten any better since.

Thankfully, their preschool extended the program starting this year to coincide with the local school districts, so they start back on August 18. They used to have six weeks off every summer. Lord help us, I don’t know how we did it!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that a few weeks ago, Baby J finally, finally started sleeping reliably through the night. He no longer wakes up to nurse at night, and rarely wakes up at all once I put him down. Victory!!! I’d like to say that I am now getting full nights of sleep, but since I don’t start sewing until after all the kids are in bed, we all know that’s not true. At least I’m up sewing instead of feeding a baby though.

If we were having coffee today, I would also tell you that I officially stopped pumping at work this week!!! It was so liberating to leave the pump behind me when I left for work on Monday.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m looking forward to spending the weekend with my bestie from college. She finished law school in May and just took the bar exam (and rocked it no doubt — she’s like that). She has a break for a few weeks before starting her judicial clerkship in the fall, so we are lucky enough to get a visit! There will be wine and talking and more talking amid playing with the kiddos.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

    Hi Katie. If we were having coffee today, I’d tell you how much I look forward to these coffee dates (even if I have to bring my own coffee ; – ) ). I’d tell you I have a pile of sewing to do, and new fabric scored when Girl Charlee had their July 4th sale,,,,but I have pneumonia, and I’m too darn sick to sew! Hope your week ahead is great,,and congrats on the sleeping through,,and the end of pumping–sometimes it feels like it will never end.

      Oh I hope you get better soon! Being sick is no fun at all, particularly when you’re too sick to sew 😢 I recently bought some more Girl Charlee ponte to indulge my latest obsession — the Mabel pencil skirt!
