Coffee Date Friday {#11}

Well, I promised some sewing-related posts this week and lo and behold, I didn’t deliver.  Shortened days make it really hard for me to get photos of any of my projects since I generally do photos after J and N are in bed at night.  Soon, my sweets.  Soon.  But without further ado, let’s have coffee!

If we were having coffee today, I would tell you that I am LOVING this gorgeous weather we’ve had this week!  Seriously, it was almost 80 the other day.  I went for a run and it was glorious.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that apparently unlike the rest of the world, I’m really not looking forward to spring break next week.  We’re not going anywhere, and I will be working all week.  But the kids will be home, which basically just means that they’ll be bored, cranky, and ornery by the time Friday rolls around.  Breaks are hard with kids this young.

But, if we were having coffee, I would tell you that we signed J up for a snorkeling camp next week at the pool where they do swim lessons.  Someone was snorkeling during one of his lessons (they teach snorkeling and scuba lessons there too), and he’s been obsessed ever since.  When we heard they were doing a snorkeling camp, we signed him up.  He’s soooo excited!  He’s all decked out with quality snorkeling gear (including a proper dry snorkel, not the crappy sets they sell at Target), and has been wearing it all around the house for the last couple of days.  Sometimes he insists on talking through his snorkel, which makes him sound kind of like Darth Vader, just less understandable.

If were were having coffee today, I would admit that I really need to focus on going to bed earlier.  I’ve been up until at least midnight almost every night this week.  I was working last night, but the couple of nights before that, I busted out a couple of sewing projects, which felt sooo good, but left me pretty tired the next morning!

Maybe that’s why I’ve been struggling to wake up when I need to in the morning.  I never think that the switch back to Daylight Savings Time is going to affect us too much, until it’s Wednesday after the time change, and J has slept until 8am (the kid usually jumps out of bed at 6:45am sharp), and we’re running SUPER late for school.  I’m pretty confident I set my alarm every morning this week, but I must have turned it off when I was half asleep, because I slept over an hour past my alarm every day.  Hopefully we’ll adjust soon.

We’re gearing up for another gorgeous weekend here, so I’m wishing everyone a great weekend and productive spring break!

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

    Haha that photo is priceless! The sewing/sleep debate is a tough one – if swing makes you feel good then does that outweigh the tiredness? I’d say so. My week has been tough as my baby had gastroenteritis (he’s only 4 1/2 months old) but happily he’s on the mend now so I’m looking forward to seeing him happier this weekend, and to getting a bit of sewing time while he spends time with daddy!

      Aw, I hope your little one is feeling better. It’s so hard to see them sick — at any age, but especially when they’re little like that. I go through phases on the sewing/sleep issue. Now I’m tired enough that sleep needs to take precedence for a few days!

    I’d tell you that I love that photo! So cute! I’d tell you that my little one tried to say ‘helicopter’ this evening and he’s only 22 months. I’d tell you that work has been manic but yesterday I took an hour out to think about what I wanted to achieve over the next few months and I feel refreshed and eager to get on with things. I was getting bogged down by the day-to-day stuff but can now see the bigger picture.

      Wow, that’s a big word for such a little guy! It’s always good to take some time to refocus. I need to do that as well. Have a great weekend!

      He is — I’ve never been snorkeling in my life! It’s amazing all the things our kids get to so that just weren’t options when we were young.
