Coffee Date Friday {#3}

Hey there!  Good to see you for our coffee date!

coffee

If we were having coffee this morning, I would probably spend some time lamenting that Baby J is apparently in the long, arduous process of cutting his first tooth.  He’s just a drooling, slobbering, chewing-on-his-hands, sleeping-poorly mess right now.  The poor little guy can’t stop chewing on whatever is available, usually himself.  Unfortunately, none of my kids have been quick teethers — they spend copious amounts of blood, sweat and tears … and drool … for each and every tooth. (And if you told me that your kids were ones who just magically woke up one morning with teeth, I’d probably have to restrain myself from slapping you 🙂 ). Baby J started showing signs of serious teething right around his 4-month birthday and the first might not break the skin until he’s five months.  Oy.

And then I would probably marvel that he’s old enough now to be cutting teeth!  Ahhh, where is the time going?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my eighth wedding anniversary was earlier this week!  It was actually on Tuesday, and since it was during the week, we didn’t really do anything to celebrate on the day.  We do, however, have a babysitter for tomorrow night!  With three very small children at home, we don’t really get out much.  Even tomorrow, we won’t go anywhere until after I get Baby J to bed and leave the sitter to put just J and N to bed.  It’s still up in the air what we’re doing, though I’m sure food and drinks will be involved 🙂

If we were chatting over coffee, I would tell you that earlier this week I noticed that the black work pants I bought after going back to work (since nothing fit) are decidedly looser than they were even 2 weeks ago.  And my waist is noticeably thinner!  In fact, there was enough of a difference in my pants that I took my measurements the other night and I’ve lost a solid inch off each and every one (except my low bust, where I’ve lost almost 2).  Then I just decided to jump on the scale this morning and it read 10 pounds less than it did 2 weeks ago!  I was kind of shocked. In a good way, of course!  Gotta love the breastfeeding calorie burn!

Know what this is?

This, my friends, is an almost flat belly!  Yes, my waist is still pretty thick and yes there are still many, many planks in my future, but it’s a heckuva lot better than even 2 weeks ago.  At least no one should be asking me when the baby’s due 🙂

If we were having coffee, I’d probably complain about having to make my quarterly tax payment earlier this week.  Tax day always puts me in a bad mood.  And to add insult to injury, it was timesheet day too.  No wonder I wasn’t motivated to do anything that day!

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

    Holy congrats! Pounds and inches and a flat tummy!!!
    Great work! If we were having coffee I would have to laugh about how bad my luck has been lately. I had a pretty crummy week — just not my week — simple things were thwarted by insane karma. Would ask for a do over but I prefer to just get to spring already 🙂

      Thank you!

      Man, I hope your luck turns around soon. You guys have just been getting pounded. Or at least that the bad karma doesn’t follow you to Turks or Paris!!

        Yes at this point its just kind of laughable. Even Monday which could be described as a “Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” I decided to say screw it and go to bed early but on my way into bed I cracked my knee on my night stand and now have a giant knot that’s turning all sorts of pretty colors. Between GI bugs, wireless keyboard batteries dying at inopportune times, being locked out of my work computer, not being able to open salad dressing jars, forgetting my wallet at work (and having no $$ to buy lunch)…its been one thing after another. I do pray this black cloud finds someone else to torture before Turks!!! LOL Enjoy your date night this weekend!! 🙂

    I hope you have a great wedding anniversary celebration. It’s always nice to do things as a couple, when life allows.

    And way to go for losing an inch and 10 pounds! That’s awesome. Man, makes me wish I had banked on that breastfeeding calorie burn. But nope. I just ate way too much cake and ice cream. No weight change, good and bad 🙂 You are truly inspiring!

      Oh, thank you! I ate way too much cake and ice cream for a few months too. But I got so frustrated with nothing fitting that it was the kick in the butt I needed to make some changes! It’s hard though — breastfeeding makes you so HUNGRY all the time!

      Some adult time will be nice. Even. Is we’re still trying to figure out the logistics of it all with 3…
