New patterns and big plans!

I’ve been wooed by all the great patterns out there recently — some (relatively) old and some brand, brand new! I guess that means there is some major sewing for me in my near future!

I’ve been enjoying participating in the Sew Colette 2.0 sew along, and the current project is the Macaron, possibly my favorite Colette pattern.

A paper pattern — yummy!

I haven’t even started mine and there’s only a week left in the sew along! I have the pieces cut for my (completely unwearable) muslin, but with vacation planning and actual vacation, haven’t had a chance to piece them together. I’m really hoping to get some good Macaron time in when we get home.

And then I’ve been drooling for the last couple of weeks over two of the newest patterns to hit the independent sewing community — Rae’s Washi Dress and Megan Nielsen’s Kelly Skirt.

This past week I broke down and bought both of them!

Now I have some serious decisions to make — fabric decisions of course. It’s pretty much a given that I’m not going to sew 12 buttonholes (I detest sewing buttonholes) on the Kelly skirt and will use pearl snaps instead. I have a nice little stash of snaps, I love how they look on Megan Niesen’s patterns and they are just SOOO much easier!

But what fabric? A super-soft lightweight denim (my leading contender right now)? A kelly green twill? Maybe royal blue twill? Or just a nice, office-appropriate light gray? Decisions!

And then the Washi Dress — oh the choices! I’m thinking something loud and bold, like Drop Cloth by Jay McCarroll. Or maybe the new Ombre Dots from Riley Blake. Or I still have a nice stash of Anna Maria Horner and Valorie Wells voiles.

Or maybe all three. Yeah, I think that’s the winner šŸ™‚
