Coffee Date Friday

Coffee Date {#68}

Creative Counselor: Let's have a coffee date

Well, I had a rather unplanned almost-2-week blog vacation last week, but now I’m back!  Today just happens to be my birthday (yay me!) and I’m at a convention in Wichita, Kansas.  Before you feel all sad for me, though, I did celebrate my birthday last weekend along with Baby J’s birthday when my parents were in town.

If we were having coffee today (or rather drinks considering the late hour), I would tell you that Albert and Baba got me my very first coverstitch machine for my birthday!  It’s a Janome Cover Pro 900CPX, and I shall call her Janie.  She’s pretty freaking beautiful and I’m very excited to set her up when I get back to Kansas City!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I got some happy mail today:

Creative Counselor: Deer & Doe patterns

Birthdays are the best days to get happy mail, and these patterns are just so pretty.  I’m particularly excited to make the Fumeterre skirt, though I might shorten it to closer to knee length.

Well it’s late and I’m tired so I’m going to wrap this up.  Hope everyone has a very successful Friday!

    1. I think it will be perfect for the office! I have a beautiful piece of navy blue wools crepe and now I’m trying to decide whether to use it for this skirt or for wide-leg trousers. Decisions!

    1. It’s a magical machine that makes that pretty stitch that you see on the hem of t-shirts and other knits. Also on lingerie and activewear. It gives such a pretty finish — maybe I’ll bring it in November. That’s a lot of machines though!

  1. Happy Birthday! I can’t wait to see the results of your coverstitch — that’s one I’d like to have someday and imagine coming in very handy.

  2. Happy birthday! If we were having coffee I’d tell you that going back to work hasn’t been the shock to the system that I thought it was going to be! Baby T has settled in well with our childminder, Toddler B has settled back into Nursery far better than I dared to hope and I’ve really enjoyed being back at work. Part time working is the way forward and finishing at lunchtime on two days of the week is giving me a much better work/ life balance. Was outta there as soon as the lunch bell rang to take B swimming. Friday afternoons are going to be our special time to have fun together. And when he goes to school next September, Friday afternoons will become Mummy’s sewing time! Enjoy your conference.

    1. So nice to have those couple of afternoons off! I’m glad you have all transitioned well–those first weeks can be rough but it sounds like everything is going great!
