Coffee Date Friday

Coffee Date {#51}

Creative Counselor: Let's have a coffee date

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that it’s been a seriously rough week at our house. J was sick but that actually wasn’t our major stressor. I can’t really talk about it here but I’m hoping next week will bring some resolution.

And because all my evenings were taken up with discussions and helping work through all these various issues, I haven’t had a chance to sit down at my sewing machine in ages. Sewing is my mental health activity so I’m really hoping to get back there this weekend.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I have managed to drag myself out of bed at 5am every day this week to work out. I’m using the Moms Into Fitness Lean Out program, which I really like. I’ve used her programs before and I think they’re really well done. I was in a good routine of getting up early to work out back in August/September but got out of it when we went to Florida for a week. It’s nice to get back into it.

And at least it’s going to be a gorgeous weekend and week coming up. Generally 50s and 60s and sunny. We will definitely have some good park time in our future.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

  1. Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough week, hope it all settles down soon. Really impressed at your early starts for exercise.!
    I’d tell you that life has gradually been returning to normal this week, although I still can’t quite get used to not having to go to work each day! The little one is doing well and piling on weight so we must be doing something right. Having a lovely weekend with my nephews who have come to meet their new cousin – all very exciting for them!

    1. Welcome! Life without hobbies would be very empty. I’ve been very glad lately that I took up knitting. Still haven’t been at my sewing machine in ages but at least I can knit every day.

  2. Any tips for losing weight while breastfeeding/pumping? I can’t cut calories, but I’m ready to be rid of the mom pooch after #3! 5 am workouts would probably help do the trick 🙂

    1. Oh goodness I never would have had the energy for 5am workouts when my youngest was so little! 17 months in and I barely have it now! But I was able to lose my baby weight while breastfeeding without cutting calories. What I did was change the things I was eating and paid close attention to my macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein). I made sure to eat lots of good fats and protein and kept my carb intake between 50-100g per day, usually around 70-80g. I ate tons of good fats like avocado, nuts, olives and oils which helped keep my BM supply up. All in all, I lost about 35 lbs while BFing my youngest for his full first year! During June of that year, we did a Whole 30, which helped me drop the last 11 pounds during that month. Now I follow a loose Paleo diet, eliminating most grains, dairy and legumes. I’m not afraid of eating fat (in fact, I embrace it because it keeps me feeling full and actually helps burn fat) and I do have my indulgences 🙂

      So that would be my tip! I’m a firm believer that diet is THE most important thing to lose the baby weight. Not the easiest, but by far the most effective. Good luck!!

    1. Awww, thank you 🙂 I wish it was all positive things. Mainly just lots of frustrating things that I can’t talk about in a public way just yet. Eventually. But since I haven’t been able to spend much time at my sewing machine lately, I have been occupying my hands with knitting. Lots of knitting projects to show off when I’m able to photograph them! Thanks so much for popping in!
