And yet another week with nothing but a Coffee Date for you. I’d apologize but since I don’t make any money off of this blog, I guess I have nothing to be sorry about! I’ve been doing some sewing, though, and have a huge backload of unblogged projects. Hopefully I can talk my lovely hubby into doing some photo shoots for me soon and get some of those projects up here!
Speaking of the hubby, if we were having coffee today, I’d give you an update on his right eye, which when I left you all last week, was on the point of blowing up (figuratively, not literally). I’m happy to report that the rheumatologist started him on an immunosuppressant, which seems to have calmed down his system. That is a very good thing! But it also means he’s on immunosuppressants, which are some pretty hard core drugs. He still has lots of follow ups scheduled and multiple blood draws to check white blood cells and liver counts. And of course we don’t yet know what the end game is on this latest flare-up. So the news is generally good, but there are still lots of questions.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that J did his second kids triathlon last weekend and once again loved it! He did awesome, too. He swam the full 25 yards in the pool unassisted like it was a total piece of cake. Then he rode his bike (without training wheels) all by himself for 3/4 mile, then hopped off and ran the 1/4 mile run! He even asked us to sign him up for the next one later this summer, which I have already done. He’s a little athlete in the making! Next year he’ll be old enough to participate in the competitive triathlon. Those distances are a lot longer, so he might even have to train for that.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m having fun looking for new glasses. I saw Delia’s review of David Kind, and from her description, the service was exactly what I needed! I mean seriously, I upload my picture, a professional stylist looks at it and chooses frames that will flatter my face and coloring, sends me 6 frames to try out, and then I get to keep them and play with them for a week while I decide? What busy working mom wouldn’t love that? No need to mess around trying on hundreds of frames unassisted in an optometrist’s shop! I haven’t had new glasses in 7 years (maybe longer, I might have just replaced the lenses in my old frames then — it’s so long ago I can’t remember) so this is long overdue.
If we were having coffee, I’d tell you that after a few consecutive nights of sleeping 7-8 hours straight, Baby J is back to night feedings with a few sporadic sleeps through the night. The child is almost 10 months old now and I have a bench trial in southeast Kansas coming up in a couple of weeks so I might have to get serious about the nighttime sleep training soon. Really not looking forward to those nights.
Finally, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’m 3 1/2 days away from the end of my Whole30 month, and I’m now officially ready for it to be over. It’s been a good month, but I can tell that such a restricted diet is starting to take its toll. I’ve managed to keep up my breastmilk production, which I think is pretty commendable. But I suspect my electrolytes might be on the low side since I’m starting to get random Charlie horses in my legs, and I’ve just felt really fatigued lately. I’m celebrating on Tuesday with a cupcake from Smallcakes, my favorite local cupcakery (can I just say how awesome it is that “cupcakery” is even a legitimate word now). My favorite flavor, if they have any left, is the Caramel Crunch…yummmmmm.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
