Coffee Date Friday

Coffee Date Friday {#10}

Wow, 10 weeks into the year already, can you believe it?

If we were having coffee this morning, I would tell you that spring has finally started to arrive here!  It’s 60 and sunny out my window this morning, with the promise of more beautiful weather next week.  It’s about time!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you all about my sewing date with my friend Crystal this week!  She had originally planned to stay only 4 nights, but ended up staying 7 nights instead.  We had a great time and she made such amazing progress during the time she was here!  She finished one garment — a darling little dress — and her second is almost done.  I still had my home and work responsibilities during the day, but once the kids were in bed, we drank lots of wine, listened to music, and sewed, sewed, sewed!

If we were having coffee, I would also tell you that I now need to recover from my sewing date!  I’m not used to drinking champagne on a nightly basis, and we went to bed pretty late.  I may not even fire up my sewing machine at all tonight.  Instead, I may just catch up on Elementary with my knitting and go to bed early!

If we were having coffee today, I would admit that I broke down and bought the new Deer & Doe pattern, Anemone, yesterday.  I was totally sucked in by the high-waisted miniskirt option.  I love miniskirts and want to add a few to my wardrobe.  It may be counterintuitive that a mother of 3 still losing her baby weight wants to wear miniskirts, but I have nice legs, and they look good on me.  And they make me look taller — I take whatever optical illusions I can get!  I have some medium-weight brown chambray that would be perfect for this skirt.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m starting to get a little panicky that I haven’t started on the kids’ outfits for our good friend’s wedding at the end of April.  That sounds like a long way away, but there’s only 6 weeks left until we leave!  N is going to be the flower girl, and just the other day she asked me if J could be ring bearer since their original ring bearer is terrified at the idea of walking down the aisle.  That means both of their outfits have to get done before we leave for California.  And there’s my dress to make as well.  I need to knock these out!

I know I’ve been rambling a lot on here lately.  With longer days, warmer weather, and some SUN, I hope to have one or two sewing posts for you all next week.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

  1. i can’t wait to see crystal’s new swag! we are excited to have her at our house for pictures this weekend. and, i hope she is ready to drink more wine. 🙂 if we were having coffee, i would tell you that i am getting super excited about a secret trip jeremy has planned for me next weekend. i have no idea where we are going, but i know we are getting on a plane.

    have a great weekend! miss you all!

    1. Definitely make her show it to you! It’s so darling and she did such an amazing job on it!

      A secret trip sounds like so much fun! You totally deserve it — good working making it halfway through your first year with two kiddos. That first year is really hard. I’ll look forward to hearing where you went!

      Miss you guys too! Oh and just FYI — I’m starting to plan a sewing retreat for all four of us for next year 🙂 I assume you’re in?

  2. Your sewing date sounds like it was so much fun!! If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am super excited because in a couple of hours my spring break starts!!! I have been counting down for awhile and I’m so ready for a week off of school. It will be so nice just to relax. I have lots of sewing planned too, of course! 🙂

  3. Hi, if we were having coffee I’d tell you that I’m so jealous of your week long sewathon! I’d tell you that it’s been a mad well and I’ve only actually been at work for 2 days as I’ve been on courses for the rest of the week. I’d tell you that today was fun because our World Book Day theme at school was ‘Where’s Wally?’ So rather than finding one Wally in amongst everyone else it was more like 500 Wallys with a few normally dressed children in between! Can’t teach proper lessons when you’re taking to 30 Wallys! I’d tell you that I’m really looking forward to a lovely family weekend, the weather appears to have realised it’s Spring, so hopefully we’ll get at least one day out together.

    1. Oh, that’s so cute that they were really into the Where’s Wally theme! I hope you enjoyed some good family time. Spring weather has finally arrived here — I’m looking forward to a lunchtime run in 75-degree weather!

  4. I can’t drink champagne either – like, at all. I have nominated your blog for a Liebster award (I see you already have had one!). Hope you don’t mind. Details here.
